Duwamish Alive Celebration and Shoreline Restoration at Gateway Park North

Join us, Seattle OSE, and the Georgetown Youth Council for Duwamish Alive and celebrate 20 years of improving the health of the Green-Duwamish Watershed through collaborative stewardship and community activation! We will also learn about the industrial past of Gateway Park North, which provides the only access to the Duwamish River for Georgetown, and the decades-long community efforts to restore this shoreline green space. Help us with our restoration efforts and promote the many watershed, community, and wildlife benefits that this site supports! All ages and skill levels are welcome. We’ll provide the tools, gloves, snacks, hot drinks, and water.

Bird Migration Walk and Riparian Restoration along Thornton Creek

Saturday, October 24th, 10am-1pm Registration

Join us this October as we celebrate the role of wetlands in fall bird migration and caring for our section of Thornton Creek at Kingfisher Natural Area. We’ll be learning a bit about the importance of green spaces and wetlands in particular as rest stops for our beautiful migrating birds. We’ll then be removing non-native weeds such as morning glory from around young and mature native plants and bare ground to help the native plants there grow and thrive and to make way for new native plantings in the spring. All ages and skill levels are welcome. We’ll provide the tools, gloves, snacks, hot drinks, and water.

Fall Planting Preparation Work Party at Westcrest Park

Plant a forest and grow community! Help us create a healthier, happier, and greener Seattle by coming out to prepare our fall planting beds, spread mulch and pull any blackberry for new native plants coming next month. From creating wildlife habitat to combating climate change and providing a place for residents to recreate, give back to your neighborhood green spaces! All ages and skill levels are welcome. We’ll provide the tools, gloves, snacks, hot drinks, and water.

Tree Planting and Volunteer Appreciation Event at Juneau St along Longfellow Creek

Join us and Trees for Neighborhoods for our year-end tree care skill share and volunteer work party along Longfellow Creek. This work party will include a skill share about how to plant trees and native shrub species, with opportunities to do so in this special riparian ecosystem! We will also have a volunteer appreciation celebration as a thank you to all of our community stewards who have contributed to the thriving of this green space all year long, with some hot food from a local restaurant at the end of the day! All ages and skill levels are welcome. Seattle Forest Week Planting Party at Westcrest Park

Help us create a healthier, happier, and greener Seattle! Seattle Forest Week is the time of year that we get together with our neighbors to kick off planting season. From creating wildlife habitat, to combating climate change and providing a place for residents to recreate, having a hand in Seattle Forest Week is one of the best ways to give back to your neighbors, parks, and local forest. Join the fun and be one of hundreds of volunteers across the city planting native trees, shrubs, and groundcovers that will become the future forest of Seattle. All community members are welcome, and no experience is necessary! The event is family friendly and open to all ages and skill levels. We’ll provide the tools, gloves, snacks, hot drinks, and water.
